Ola Kaellenius (man in charge of research and development), made the announcement at the A-Class redesign five-door hatchback’s launch. MBUX, which will replace the aging COMAND infotainment systems, will be available in the company’s basic model in three flavors. These screens include two 7.25-inch screens (one for the instrument cluster and the touchscreen on the central console), two 10.25-inch screens to the range topper, and a combination of both for the midrange model.

Future Mercedes models with higher prices would have larger screens, considering that the top-tier Mercedes cars already boast two 12.3-inch displays. Georges Massing, the head of interaction at Mercedes, said that MBUX can be used to replace the COMAND on existing models.

The new infotainment runs on Linux and features a six-core processor, an nVidia graphics card and 8GB RAM. It integrates Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. The 10.25-inch screens have a crisp 1920x720pixel resolution (200 DPI) and the one in the center console has capacitive sensor for quick response.
