This summer, sales are expected to begin.
Toyota announced the official pricing of the new Corolla Hatchback. It will go on sale this summer. The SE MT base model starts at less than $20,000 and is priced at $19900 MSRP. While the SE CVT with a continuously variable gearbox can be purchased for as low as $21,090 MSRP. For the manual and CVT versions, the higher XSE trim levels have starting prices of $22,990 & $24,090 respectively.
According to EPA, the Corolla hatch can return up to 42 mpg on the highway when it is configured in the SE CVT configuration. For the SE MT, SE CVT and XSE CVT models, the average fuel consumption numbers are respectively 31 mpg and 36 mpg. The EPA has not yet certified the XSE MT.
All Corolla Hatchback models will be equipped with seven airbags and ABS. The XSE models get blind spot monitoring. The larger 18-inch wheels, LED Fog Lamps, chrome surround and intelligent adaptive headlights (optionally available) will distinguish the SE and XSE models.
The hatchback, which is based on Toyota’s TNGA platform and features a 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder gasoline engine. The maximum power output is 168 horsepower (125kilowatts), and the peak torque is 151 pound-feet (205 Newton-meters). The power is directed exclusively to the front wheels via either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a new CVT.
According to the Japanese manufacturer, the new motor is lighter and smaller than the 1.8-liter unit that it replaces. It also has lower noise vibration harshness (NVH).
