Subaru today unveiled a special edition of the WRX STI S207 high-powered WRX STI S207 limited to 400 units for Japan.
This new Subaru high-performance sedan is more sought-after than ever because of the numerous mechanical improvements. The 2.0-liter turbo-boxer engine, which now produces 328 PS (241kW) at 7,200rpm and 431Nm (318 lbft) of torque between 3,200-4,800 rpm, has been revised to deliver 328 PS (241kW) at 7,200rpm. It’s 20 PS (15 kW) more powerful than the regular WRX STI and 38 Nm (28 lbft) more torque between 3,200 and 4,800 rpm. This is due to a new ECU, and a reworked twin-scroll ball bearing turbocharger. The performance muffler has a lower back pressure and a new rear exhaust pipe.
Some extra bits and pieces that are exclusive to this model include Bilstein front and rear struts, coil springs, and rear dampers. There is also a larger front under-spoiler and mesh grilles. The rear bumper has metallic sill moldings and side sill moldings. You won’t find any additional goodies on the regular WRX STI, including a new instrument panel, engine switch button and shift knob, as well as revised Recaro heated front bucket chairs.
There are many other changes to the JDM-spec Subaru WRX STI S207 special model. It has an upgraded Brembo braking system, a faster steering-gear ratio (11-1), and the Vehicle Dynamics Control was tuned for this model. The wheels are 19-inch STI-designed BBS black forged alloy wheels shod with 255/35R19 tyres. At the rear, it has a dry carbon spoiler that is exclusive to this limited-run edition.
Customers can order the car with a Crystal Black Silica or Crystal White Pearl paint. Subaru also says that 100 units will be reserved to the NBR Challenge Package Yellow Edition, Sunrise Yellow, which includes black side sill moldings, side sill caps and yellow sill plates with “S207”.
