A proper Bugatti sendoff.
Bugatti has a car brand that doesn’t need introduction. With the EB110 and Veyron and the Chiron, the French hypercar manufacturer has made some of the most recognizable and powerful vehicles on the planet. Even Bugatti, the producer of the world’s fastest car, knows that the market is changing and that it’s only a matter time before the combustion engine becomes obsolete.
This in mind, Serkan Budur, graphic designer and illustrator, has an idea for how to present the brand’s impressive, long-running lineage of combustion engines in style. His virtual (and scale-model) creation is called Bugatti La Finale. This rendering, as the name suggests, imagines the final gas-powered Bugatti. It certainly captures the iconic powertrains of the brand.
Budur sends us an email saying that “[La Finale] pays homage to ICE cars which, sooner or later will become extinct” and “honors them as a homage.” It has many visible mechanical parts, such as suspension, wishbones and even an axle-shaft. This is not a jab at electric cars. It is more of an invitation to the new era, and a way to say goodbye to the old.
It has visual similarities to current models like the Chiron’s dome-shaped grille, aggressive front fascia and exposed elements. Budur is actually credited with his inspiration from Bugatti’s older icons.
The concept pays homage to the Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante in specific elements, such as the two-tone paint job and wheel design. The bronze accents at the rear pay homage to Ettore Bugatti, founder of the Type 41 Royale. This rendering is exceptional because of the care given to every detail.
Budur claims that his creation would not have the famous W16 engine, unlike the Veyron or Chiron. He envisions a smaller V12 to “keep it in a tighter package and for weight-saving.”
This concept, regardless of the circumstance, is a wonderful interpretation of what might be.
