This firetruck is quick to respond and has a great attitude.
It’s time for all the witty jokes. As we go through this article, we’ll be careful not to let the puns fly as we walk through it. It features a large Ford truck that has been modified for fire duty. We’re used to fire trucks being large trucks. It’s not that the F-550 is tiny, but it does look like a large Rosenbauer tanker.
However, it’s not small. The F-550 dual-purpose firefighting vehicle was originally built by General Truck Body Houston. The dual-rear tires were modified to become super singles to allow for quick response to remote fires. Fox shocks were added to the truck, along with a 2.5-inch lift. The rear leaf springs were replaced by coil springs. Although this truck will not burn the pavement, the 41-inch offroad tires around it mean that it can conquer any terrain.
It’s not impressive, but it does carry 5,000 lbs of water. A large tank is mounted on a nine-foot custom bed that has ample storage for all your tools and equipment. The water can exit via the rear hose or through the front monitor, which can be controlled within the truck. The custom bumper’s corners have small nozzles that spray water onto the ground. This is in case the truck’s environment becomes too hot.
It’s an impressive firetruck, and the crew gives a fantastic look at all the details. We don’t often see it, and its mission is quick-response to fire suppression. We hope we only get to see it in videos such as this.
