Celebrity Face-off is not a part this season, but why?
Only two episodes are left in the third season The Grand Tour. But you may have noticed that something is missing from this hit Amazon Prime series.
Celebrity Face-Off – in which two famous people race in a Jaguar F-Type on a rallycross-like track to determine who is fastest – was introduced only in Season Two. It replaced the ridiculous (and frankly awful) Celebrity Brain Crash from the first series of episodes. But now it has been dropped.
So far, celebrity guests have not been present in any episode. Jeremy Clarkson, the host of the show, revealed recently that it is difficult to find guests who will work for all viewers due to its global appeal.
He said that the show was originally a British production, and was first shown in the U.K. many years ago. “And then it was international, and it is still very, very international. We are much more well-known in Italy and China than here, strangely.”
Clarkson jokingly said, “So there’s not any point in having guests where you go, ladies and gentlemen, it’s Howard from Halifax’,’ because in Uruguay they don’t have a f clue who Howard really is.” So we decided to end the segment, even though it seemed futile.
The crowd cheered the announcement at a screening of the new series.
Clarkson spoke out about the decision in a second interview with Digital Spy. He said that recording has been easier.
He said, “It certainly makes recording easier… My mind was always distracted because you have an interview.” You can’t work if you have a chat program. You have to make James interesting, which is always tricky. Then you have Hammond, who’s Hammond.
“You’ve got your studio audience. You’ve got links to and from… Now you can record a chat show. He said that it was a lot. It’s much easier to spend money and time on movies than it is on guests.
This move is in advance of the show’s plan to cut all its studio segments in Season Four and replace them with more “specials.” According to Amazon data, most viewers skip through segments that were filmed in the famous tent.
