According to legend, the iconic nameplate will enter its last model year.
Toyota fans and HTML2_ Toyota patrons, get ready to be shocked. According to reports, the Japanese automaker will soon end production of the Land Cruiser in the U.S. The old SUV will be joining a number of other models that haven’t made it past the new model year.
Take this information with a pinch of salt, or use the entire canister, since nothing has been proven.
The news was from Motor Authority The post cited a now-deleted IH8MUD.com post – a forum and website for all things Land Cruiser. The post states that Toyota will cease to use the Land Cruiser nameplate following the 2021 model year. Lexus LX
The current 5.7-liter V8 will continue to live, but it will be replaced by a turbo V6.
Motor Authority also quoted a source who confirmed the rumor and said that there is no doubt it’s returning. He also stated that it was “completely dead” at the moment. For obvious reasons, the source requested anonymity.
According to the same source, the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition will be back for the model year 2021. The special LC was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show in 2019, for the 2020 model year. Its price is around $80,000.
Although the automaker has not confirmed the rumor at this time, it seems plausible based on the Land Cruisers’ age. The current J200 generation is in existence since 2007, and there are no reports about a successor. To keep its styling fresh and appealing for SUV-hungry customers, it received only a few facelifts.
We will find out more about whether this report is true over the coming months and years, but we do hope that we did not make this mistake for the sake of the iconic nameplate.
