Russia’s Idea of Widebody Conversion is Welding Two Ladas Together

These guys are having a Lada Time.

Most petrolheads will know that widebody conversions can be done with larger wheel arches. The Garage54 guys have recently constructed their own widebody Lada using two cars.

It is not surprising that things became complicated quickly, but Garage54 can handle any job. It was more than simply cutting the cars and welding them together. The team had to reconfigure the suspension and steering, in addition to strengthening the body.

The double-wide Lada performed flawlessly after a quick spin in the parking lot. The crazy contraption can skid steer in perfect circles, with one driver in reverse and another in first gear. There are many crazy contraptions on Motor1. But this one is the best.

The vehicle was a real head-turner throughout the video. Even though they were just walking around their workshop, there were many onlookers.

After the beta test in the garage, the men continued to refine their widebody Lada. The car was given a new coat of paint and some body panels were massaged before being transported to a local track. The final product, which was a very heavy car, was capable of amazing acrobatic moves and didn’t snap in half.

After adding four more passengers towards the end, the front left tire finally gave up. Even though the problem was fixed, the guys had to end their day because one of the engines overheated.
