Carbonized Gray is the most sought-after color.
Since the Mustang Mach–E electric SUV was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford has been accepting pre-orders. The Blue Oval has shared some interesting information about the type of reservations customers have made, including the fact that the First Edition order books are full. We tried to get an exact number from the company about how many FEs were planned for production but received no clear answer. This is what Ford has to say about this matter.
“We are not confirming the number or First Editions. “We have stated that the production of the First Editions is limited to 50,000 units for the first twelve months worldwide.”
A reservation is not the same thing as a sale. Some people might decide to cancel their pre-order and return the $500 deposit. This should allow the Mustang Mach-E First Edition to be available again, at least theoretically. The FE variant, which is based on an extended-range AWD model, costs $61,000. It is distinguished by the red brake discs, metallic pedal covers and contrasting stitching.
Ford claims Carbonized Gray is the most requested color, with 38% of preorders for the Mustang Mach-E choosing this shade. Grabber Blue Metallic is close behind at 35%. Rapid Red was preferred by 27% of customers. Surprisingly, more than half (55%) are deposits for the AWD-equipped model. Nearly 30% of the pre-orders placed in the USA are for the GT model.
The Mach-E with extended-range batteries is the most popular option in the U.S. It was selected by more than 80% customers. California is home to more than 25% of the reservations Ford has received worldwide for its electric SUV.
Customers will begin receiving their First Edition models towards the end 2020. This follows the fall production start. Ford offers the option to pre-order the 2021MY Premium and GT versions if you are in a hurry.
