The mildly-hot Toyota Yaris is now equipped with new shocks, a stiffer Anti-Roll Bar, and more stickier tires.
The limited-edition Toyota Yaris GRMN hot car has been discontinued by Europeans. Now, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the Yaris GR Sports. Although it doesn’t offer the same performance as the full GRMN model, the vehicle offers buyers an exciting experience. The five-door model will debut at the Paris Motor Show October 2, and will go on sale in Europe in late 2018.
The GR Sport trim is intended to be a step below the full-bore GRMN vehicles. Toyota focuses a lot of its mechanical attention on the suspension in this instance. Sachs Performance shocks are included and an anti-roll bar with a stronger, more rigid structure replaces the hollow part. These tweaks result in a 0.43 inch (11 millimeter) reduction in ground clearance compared to a stock Yaris.
Toyota matches the aggressive styling with the sporty suspension modifications. The Yaris GR Sport is equipped with black 17-inch wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RE50 sport tires. The body has a black roof and rear spoiler. Piano black trim is used to match the grille, door moldings, mirror caps, fog lights surrounds and interior details of headlights. Red decals can be added to the front lip or top of the rear bumper for an extra pop of color.
The Yaris GR Sport interior features moderately bolstered sports seats made of a combination black and white Ultrasuede. The look is enhanced by a black headliner and satin-chrome trim. Straight from the Toyota comes the three-spoke steering column.
The GRMN’s three door layout and 1.8-liter supercharged 4-cylinder are not available for the GR Sport. Instead, it is only available in a five-door body with a 1.5-liter hybrid engine.
