Can you spot the differences?
The Suzuki Ignis was first unveiled in 2016. It was launched for European markets. Although you won’t be capable of identifying this model as a updated version by looking at the photos, there are some important changes that warrant a write-up.
The exterior features a modified front bumper with a new radiator grille. The little hatch with high-riding features has a distinctive rear bumper that is slightly modified. New interior colors and a redesign of the instrument cluster are part of the facelift. The cabin’s interior appears to have remained unchanged.
Under the skin, there have been more important changes. Under the hood, there’s a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that has been upgraded. It now features an electric intake VVT and variable displacement oil pump. Also, it uses electric piston cooling jets. According to the Japanese manufacturer, this results in an improved engine response and efficiency.
A mild hybrid system is now available that uses a 10-Ah battery to replace the 3-Ah one. Although Suzuki has not revealed the exact benefits of the system, it is expected to be able to store more energy in its lithium-ion battery during acceleration than the previous version.
A new CVT transmission is an option for the Ignis facelift. It promises “powerful acceleration performance at low speed and exceptional fuel efficiency when cruising at higher speeds.”
The refreshed Ignis will go on sale in spring 2020. The first country to purchase it is expected to be the United Kingdom. Order books will open in April. Pricing information will be available closer to the date of on-sale.
