Yes, this large SUV has been made into a race car.
The HummerH1 can be a racecar so it’s not surprising that the Urus will get a single-brand series next season. The ST-X was first seen by Lamborghini Squadra Corse almost a year ago. It is now back in images in a preview event in Spain, which took place this weekend at the Super Trofeo World Finals. The company’s motorsport division showed off a new Aventador hypercar that will be unleashed in 2020 with 830 horsepower.
The ST-X is more than a Lamborghini, we should emphasize. Urus The SUV will sport a racing look and undergo major hardware changes in order to shed about 25% of its weight. It is expected to lose approximately 550 kg (1,212 lb) and bring its curb weight down to 1,650kg (3,637 lb).
Carbon fiber will be used extensively for the hood, rear wing and other parts of the vehicle’s body. The standard Urus will have more air intakes than the standard Urus and a racing exhaust that has new hexagonal tips under the corners of its rear bumper. The “first Super SUV to be built in the world for racing” will feature a twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 650 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.
The ST-X will be finished in the striking shade of green with red accents, much like Squadra Corse uses Verde Mantis for its Huracan race car Huracans. The wheels will be 21 inches in diameter and covered with Pirelli tires. Lamborghini has not yet provided images of the interior. However, Lamborghini states that the race-ready SUV will have a reinforced cockpit with a steel tubular rollbar, racing seats and a fire extinguisher for any eventualities.
We haven’t disclosed performance details, but we expect the STX to significantly improve acceleration due to the significant weight loss. A standard Urus can go from 0-60 mph (100 km/h), to 0-60 mph (128 sec), and then to maximum speed at 189.5 mph (355 km/h).
The Super Trofeo 2020 World Finals will be held in Misano Adriatico, Italy. Next year, we’ll see the Lamborghini Urus ST-X live in action.
