Ineos Grenadier Spied Testing As Pickup Truck Missing Its Bed

This rugged SUV will offer what the Defender does not: a pickup version.

The Ineos Grenadier, a rugged SUV that is still new to the market, will be available in a pickup truck version. The more utilitarian version of the Ineos Grenadier was captured by to be tested in Southern Europe. It had a bed missing, but the majority of the body was carried over from the standard model.

This could indicate that the vehicle was designed not only to be a pickup with a bed but also with other storage configurations for specific purposes. The bed is not necessarily large and the exposed rear end suggests that the rear seats may have been replaced with a rollcage.
The BMW engine is under the hood. It can be either a gasoline or diesel inline-six unit, sending power to both axles via a ZF eight speed automatic transmission. The pickup truck will be larger than the Grenadier’s 2,922-millimeter (115 inch) wheelbase and will measure 3175mm (125 in) between its axles. This is similar to a future seven seat SUV.

Rivals include the next generation Volkswagen Amarok, and the Ford Ranger. Both will be riding on the same platform as the Blue Oval. Land Rover has been rumored to introduce a Defender-based pickup but it is not yet clear if it will happen.

The regular Grenadier will still be the most heavy-duty production vehicle on the road. The SUV with ladder frame is expected to weigh in at 2,650 kg (5,842 lb). Bavaria’s 3.0-liter gasoline engine, which produces 281 horsepower and 450 Newton meters (332 pound-feet), or the 3.0-liter diesel B57 that produces 245 HP and 550 Nm (406lb-ft), will move all that metal.

Production of the SUV will begin in July 2022. The pickup truck is expected to follow “soon thereafter.”
