The Sweptail is just as unique as the Sweptail.
The Rolls-Royce Hyperion, named after one of the Titans in Greek mythology, is sometimes available for purchase. It’s more likely to be at a top-end dealership in Dubai when it does occur. It is no surprise that the Pininfarina-designed special creation is now available for purchase in Dubai, costing EUR2,000,000 (approximately EUR2.39M). This Phantom Drophead Coupe, commissioned by Roland Hall, is a unique one-off. It involves more than applying fancy paint to the car and subtle interior changes.
The 2008 conversion of the luxurious convertible into a two-seater saw the installation of new LED-tech recessed bi-xenon headlights and LED technology. They were also paired with the large Rolls-Royce grille. The side profile shows the completely different bodywork, with a shorter tail that evokes Pininfarina’s 1950s and 1960s work. The panels are all made of carbon fiber. There’s also a soft fabric top that folds behind rear seats and is covered with a wood-lined covering.
You can see a similar wood-lined cover in front of where the hood begins. This cover is more than a design element. It also houses two small storage areas. The rear and front covers were made of solid wood. This theme was carried on inside the cabin, which is largely unchanged and still has a lot of wood. The dashboard was finished with a Girard-Perregaux watch, which was made specifically for the Hyperion. Roland Hall was able to remove the watch from the dashboard, as it was removable from the dash.
The car was completed in time for the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Pricing details were not disclosed, as is often the case with these cars. The Hyperion was very expensive, as “Rolls-Royce,” Pininfarina, and “one-off”, were all mentioned in the same sentence. Although Sweptail costly is not a lot, it’s still a little fortune.
