No worries, single cab or long distance.
The Toyota Land Cruiser can be used as a jumping off point for other mighty project vehicles. Shannons Engineering has already built a Baja Prerunner, an adventure sleeper and a daily driver. Now, it’s ready to build a 1979 Land Cruiser, and make it into an impressive overland camper.
This thing has a lot of accessories, aside from the BFGoodrich rubber everywhere. The SE guys built the bed with everything you could need for camping. The owners will have 16 gallons (60 Liters) of water, a compressor and a slide-out workspace. They also have propane tanks.
As the truck sets out to complete the “Big Lap around Australia”, every inch of space is crucial. This is a journey through the country via Highway One, which is the longest national road in the world at 9,000 miles (14,550 kilometers). The trip is suitable for all skill levels and takes participants to some of the most beautiful places on the planet.
It’s evident that the Land Cruiser has been able to rise to the occasion, despite the enormous distance. Although many may consider the single-cab variant the “black sheep” of the family, it is actually very practical in this particular application. The single-cab wheelbase will allow for better weight distribution, more storage space, and easier access to extra toolboxes.
The bed is impressive but the front has many overlanding goodies like lightbars, front snorkel, intake snorkel and mild lift kit. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, this Toyota can handle almost anything.
