General Motors’ sedans aren’t completely dead. Although the Chevrolet Malibu is still available, it’s likely to disappear over time. Cadillac is equipped with the HTML4 as well as HTML5. However, they are unlikely to last beyond their current life cycles.

At least one person at GM isn’t solely focused on trucks and SUVs. The official GM Design Instagram account shared a sketch of a car that looks like a sedan on Valentine’s Day. Because there is only one vertical line denoting doors at the center of the car, we don’t know how occupants would get in. It doesn’t matter because we are seeing a car, not an SUV, crossover or truck. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that GM is developing a new sedan. This is a flight of fancy from an exterior designer.

This is a very cool design. Kevin Nougarede is the name on the sketch. LinkedIn lists Nougarede as GM Lead Exterior Designer, so it’s possible that he has some influence within Automaker. There’s no reason for this car to move beyond a sketch. With SUVs and trucks so popular, there’s no reason not to. We can’t help but notice a strange resemblance to the long-dead Saturn Sky. It would be interesting to see Saturn return in a niche model, similar to the GMC Hummer. Buick would be a great fit for a new EV Saturn luxury sedan that can compete with Tesla.

It could happen. It is speculation and it seems unlikely. We would have believed you if we had told you three years ago that Hummer would be returning as an EV off-roader in six figures with a GMC badge. We don’t know what the future holds.
