2020 BMW M135iXDrive Gets Sporty Look with M Performance Parts

This is far from a full-fat M version, but it’s a significant step up from the standard model.

BMW’s 1Serie was unveiled just hours ago. Now, the company’s redesigned entry-level car can sport an M Performance suit. Shown here on the flagship M135i xDrive, these extras fitted to the hot hatch represent the pinnacle of the 1 Series lineup in terms of performance taking into consideration BMW has ruled out full-fat M versions of its front-wheel-drive-based cars.

Other than the obvious visual changes, hardware upgrades such as the 18-inch M Performance brakes that have larger perforated and vented rotors at the front axle are more important. The red finish on the four-piston calipers, which are made of aluminum alloy, is a weight saving measure that hugged larger perforated and vented disks. The brakes at the back benefit from the lightweight construction and have single-piston floating discs.

M Performance Parts caters to the BMW 1 Series/ M135i/ M135iXDrive. It includes several 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels. Some are suitable for summer, while others can be used in winter to accommodate snow chains. Some rims have a matte finish in jet black, while others have a two-tone look. A wheel bag can be used to transport the fresh shoes without worrying about scratches or other damage.

The package includes black decals for the compact posh . These add visual pizzazz to the package, along with the glossy black accents on a sportier body. BMW claims that all body parts have been optimized in wind tunnels for maximum aerodynamic performance.

You’ll see the BMW M Performance logo projected onto the ground when you open the doors. This is thanks to an LED projector at the bottom. In an effort to create what the automaker calls a “very unique, distinct atmosphere”, there are two images you can show.

There are many upgrades available once you get inside the car. The M Performance steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara, and has the red 12 o’clock position to contrast with the silver/gray stitching. You can combine real carbon fiber with leather and Alcantara if you really want to go all-out. Carbon fiber shift paddles can be purchased for the 1 Series models with automatic transmission. The velvet velour floormats with the “M Performance” lettering round out the collection.
