You might recognize Dennis House, an Eyewitness News anchor for Connecticut’s CBS affiliate WFSB. He is also moderator of Face the State. But you can also spot him driving behind a car. Buick Enclave With a custom body wrap, the modern crossover looks like an old-fashioned, wood-paneled stationwagon.
House bought his current faux-wood-wrapped Enclave back in April. But it wasn’t his first. House has images of his 2013 Enclave in which he used wood-patterned paper to give the crossover a vintage look.
It does attract a lot of attention. It attracted a lot of attention today. A 20-year-old went crazy over it and asked House Motor1.com.
House’s Enclave is not only adorned with woodgrain wrap but also has a unique touch. The “Estate Wagon”, a Buick Roadmaster, can be seen below the rear badge. This clever detail adds another element to the crossover’s vintage-inspired design.
House wrote in a 2017 blog that he believes it is time for wood-paneled trims to return. “The wagon that brings back the woody will be the first to get all of the media attention and could make people across America want it. The second automaker to bring back a woody will be a copycat.
In the 1980s, wood paneling became less popular as people began to look more toward the future and less towards the past. People are now looking back fondly at the “good times” they remember. We can see that at least some modern buyers would prefer this more natural, old-fashioned look to the grey palette so prevalent in new cars.
