The clip opens with the Civic Hatchback Moving away from a stop sign. The entire vehicle is covered in black fabric, but the trapezoidal exhausts are still visible. Driver with camera is able to pass through traffic and pull alongside the hidden vehicle. Despite the camo, the arching roofline can still be clearly seen. The dashboard is covered in fabric.
The camera car manages to catch up with the Civic Hatchback near the end of this video. This camouflage is even more bluff and there is a swirling wrap that covers the bits that are visible. These headlights look almost identical to those on Civic Prototype concept.
You might be wondering why a camouflaged Civic drives around Columbus, OH. This is because Honda has a large manufacturing and engineering presence there. Honda R&D Americas also has a Raymond, OH location that specializes in prototype testing and development. It is located approximately 45 minutes north from Columbus.
The good news is that , the design trademark file (gallery above), gives a better idea of how the new Civic Hatchback appears. If you are looking for a Civic Coupe replacement, the rear is given a liftback look that gives it a modern appearance.
In late spring, the production version of next-gen Civic will be available. All models will be manufactured in North America. This will allow to build the hatchback in Indiana instead of Swindon, UK.
