Baja Prerunner Porsche 911 Looks Bonkers And It’s Somehow Road-Legal

Batman, Holy Suspended Travel.

Motor1.com has never been shy about sharing our passion for off-road Porsche 911 builds. Although we have seen many Baja-themed 911s over time, this is the first one that we have ever seen. This was once a 1991 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. It’s now freaking amazing.

This bonkers is built by TJ Russell Porsche This isn’t a 911 with a suspension lift or knobby tires. This is a Baja Prerunner straight up with incredible suspension travel and a stance so impressive that it would make any aftermarket widebody kit for cars sports car seem small in comparison. According to the AutotopiaLA video interview Russell, who spent more than a year on the project, has shared his experience on YouTube. He also designed and manufactured most of the upgrades in the car.

This machine is unique in Baja-themed 911s because of its suspension. Russell designed all components except for the hubs, brakes and coilovers. To incorporate coilovers at the front, it required building an entire sub-assembly. The result was 12 inches of suspension travel at the front and 14 inches at rear. This 911 doesn’t fear potholes, but it does fear jumping.

Russell also increased the overall width of the car by 14 inches through suspension work. However, to maintain the 911’s balance, weight distribution, and weight distribution, Russell moved Russell’s rear wheels back 2 inches and the front wheels forward 1 inch. Although the 911’s overall shape hasn’t changed, the longer wheelbase preserves the 911’s rear engined handling characteristics. It looks lively with its 365 horsepower flat-six fully built.

The car was designed to excel in both off-road conditions and on-road. Although it isn’t ready to carve corners on the pavement like a 911, it was designed to serve a dual-role street-legal role. The car is not a one-off job. Parts are readily available, and the car’s design makes it easy to replace items. Russell is willing to build custom Prerunner Baja 911s and offer replacement parts if a buyer has too much fun in desert.

We understand what you are thinking, but we do not know the cost of a Prerunner 911 for you. We truly want one.
