The Amarok V6 with the most power is the strongest, packing 255 horsepower and 428 Lb-ft (580 Nm) torque.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles showed European pickup truck enthusiasts last year at Frankfurt Motor Show a more powerful V6 Amarok. The Aventura Exclusive Concept is painted in striking Turmeric Yellow Metallic. now has an immediate road-going counterpart in the form of a new, more powerful version of this posh workhorse.
The strongest Amarok had 221 horsepower (165 kilowatts), and 406 pound feet (550 Newton-meters), of torque from the 3.0-liter TDI v6 engine. The new flagship model offers 255 horsepower (190 kW) as well as 428 lbft (580 Nm). This is an increase of 34 horsepower and 22 lb/ft (30 Nm).
There’s more. The driver can temporarily increase the horsepower available to him by using the overboost function. This will give him a total of 268 HP (200 kW). All that power is sent to a 4Motion all wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Maximum torque is at 1,400 rpm, while full horsepower can be found at 3,250 rpm.
The new VW Amarok range’s crown jewel, the Highline and Aventura models get a variety of visual upgrades. The roof liner and pillars are finished in Titanium Black, while the Nappa leather seats with Nappa leather wraps inside have the same look. A 20-inch high-gloss wheel with a dark graphite finish and a striking metallic Peacock Green are available on the Aventura.
The standard bi-xenon beams with LED daytime running light, body-colored sports bars, automatic wipers and headlights, cornering fog lamps, and electric folding mirrors round out the list. These are standard on Aventura, but cost more on the Highline.
Germany is already taking orders for the Amarok V6 top-spec Amarok V6. It starts at EUR51,384 ($63,500 at current exchange rates) and EUR58,072 ($71,000.00) for Aventura. The new Touareg luxury SUV could be purchased for just over EUR2,000. It also comes with a V6 diesel engine.
A beefier Amarok is VW’s response the newly launched Mercedes X-Class in X350d 4Matic guise. The luxury pickup truck, built by Nissan Navara, has a lower torque than its counterpart in Hannover. Its turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 produces 406 lbft (550 Nm). The horsepower is also the same at 255 HP (190 kW).
