Is this a sign that the official unveiling is near?
It is possible that the Porsche 911 GTS was already revealed in an alternative timeline. This would be either a timeline in which COVID-19 did not occur or a timeline in which Porsche doesn’t drag things out as much. It’s been a long wait for the new 992 GTS, and it’s possible that this Targa version will take even longer.
We find this unfortunate because the car is quick to complete a lap. Nurburgring . Two sets of spy shots have been taken from the Green Hell. One captures the car outside the track, and the other captures the removable-roof sportscar carving up the Nordschleife.
Both photos show the same thing. The GTS is distinguished from the Carrera by the slight changes to the rear fascia. If you look closely, you will see that the lower vents on the GTS and Carrera are slightly different. We recommend more black trim for cars with colors when you see them.
This is all part of the GTS spiced-up formula, which slots between the Carrera or Turbo. As such, the 3.0-liter engine should also gain a slight-but-noticeable power increase, with some rumors pushing the turbocharged mill towards 470 horsepower (350 kilowatts) before all is said and done. The removable Targa roof was introduced on the Carrera a while back and spent a lot of time behind the wheel. This could be the most enjoyable open-air Porsche experience, and a GTS would make it even more so.
Now the big question is: how long can we wait? Previous spy shots and rumors suggested a spring 2020 debut, but this was likely delayed due to coronavirus. This test car is not visible in camouflage which can indicate that an official reveal is imminent. According to reports, it could be happening in the fall or even next spring. It can’t come soon enough, no matter what.
