Peugeot officially revealed the Quartz concept at Paris Motor Show, following an online unveil last month.
The model rides on huge 23-inch wheels and is Peugeot’s “SUV of the future”. It has dramatic exterior styling, with sharp lines and short overhangs. Both the headlights as well as the taillights are equipped with LED technology, and feature large air intakes and a radiator grille.
The 500 HP HYbrid drivetrain provides motivation. It includes a 4-cylinder, 1.6 THP turbocharged gasoline motor with 270 HP (198kW) and 330Nm (243lb-ft), as well as a 115 HP (85kW) electric motor that charges the 400V battery when deceleration occurs. Another 85 kW electric motor is located at the rear of the vehicle for propulsion and charging.
The Quartz can travel 31 miles (50km) in electric mode, while it can travel 51 miles (50 km) in Road mode. In Road mode, the Quartz uses both the combustion engine as well as the front-mounted electric motor. Race mode activates the combination of the THP engine with the two electric motors.
Other noteworthy features include the limited slip differential, and the pneumatic suspension. This is an automatic adjustable pneumatic suspension that offers a ground clearance of between 300 mm to 350 mm.
