There are approximately 2,000 new V6 models affected.
The Chevrolet Camaro has not had the best year. The sales of GM’s muscle war horse are down which has led to widespread rumors about the model’s imminent demise. Today we learned that GM has reportedly stopped the sale of certain 2020 Camaro models due to concerns about emission.
The news is out GM Authority According to the report, approximately 2,000 Camaros with the 3.6-liter V6 engines could be affected. The vehicle’s evaporative emission canister could be causing the problem. This could lead to emissions that exceed the allowed standard. Although the problem is being investigated, affected vehicles can’t be sold until an answer is provided. GM must find a solution if a problem exists before the sales can continue.
Further, the report explains that affected vehicles either are currently in stock at dealerships or are being transferred. The number of affected models that have been sold is unknown. GM may issue additional instructions to owners of affected vehicles if a problem is discovered. The report also lists a GM reference code of N192284430. This number was not verified by us so we reached out to GM to confirm.
Camaro sales have been falling for some time now. But the pace picked up with the disastrous 2018 redesign. Chevrolet responded with a quick facelift but sales have not rebounded. The Ford Mustang also faces a declining market after its 2018 facelift, which some consider a step back. Ironically, the Dodge Challenger has been selling well for a decade and has seen its big muscle car gain in the last few weeks.
As soon as we get a response, we will update the article with a official word from GM.
