Volkswagen Will Soon Decide What To do With Bugatti

It’s still not over.

Everything with Bugatti appears to be almost perfect, at least from the outside. French hypercar manufacturer, Bugatti, is continually releasing new versions of the Chiron. One would expect that the cash flow is quite strong. Although we know very little about the inside, it seems almost as though parent company Volkswagen Group is desperate to get rid Bugatti.

We heard rumors a few years back about VAG selling Bugatti to another company. The decision by Volkswagen to remove a potential second nameplate from the French brand’s lineup was clear evidence that the Germans don’t intend to invest millions in the hypercar maker. In September 2013, new reports indicated that VW was considering selling Bugatti to another automaker.

It seems that the saga is not over. A new report suggests that Volkswagen may soon announce plans for Bugatti’s future. Automotive News reports that Oliver Blume (VWG management board member and Porsche CEO) is very close to making the final announcement. It remains to be determined how long soon will take.

This publication recalls that Porsche has been working with Rimac to form a strategic partnership that could lead to a joint venture between the Stuttgart-based automaker, and the Croatian hypercar electric vehicle brand. This is in line with a report which claimed Bugatti could be taken over by Rimac Through a joint venture formed with Porsche. Rimac is also involved in this joint venture with Porsche. Participate in a possible deal Volkswagen/Porsche: Bugatti.

The next few months are expected to be very dramatic for Molsheim’s employees. It’s not clear if Bugatti would sell the brand to another company, but it will be a sign that things aren’t going as planned within the automaker.
