Chevrolet unveils the 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon limited Edition.
The Corvette Z06 carbon limited edition is designed to incorporate racing technology. It’s a tribute to Corvette’s 50th anniversary of its first 24 Hours of LeMans race. It includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes from the Corvette ZR1, black 20-spoke tires (which measure 19 inches in front and 20 inches in rear), Magnetic Selective Ride Control and an improved cooling system.
The Carbon edition features an Inferno Orange, Supersonic Blue exterior and black headlamps. There is also a ZR1 spoiler and several carbon fiber body parts (hood and side sills, front splitter). Chevrolet included ebony leather upholstery and suede upholstery with blue or orange seat stitching, a unique steering wheel emblem and special sill plates. There are also embroidered headrests.
Tadge Juechter is Corvette Chief Engineer. “For track use the Z06 Carbon has been the most balanced Corvette to date,” he said. It combines Z06’s lightweight, naturally-aspirated Z06 motor with ZR1’s road-holding and brakes. The Z06 Carbon could cut up to three seconds off Z06’s lap time on technical tracks such as Laguna Seca.
Only 500 Carbon editions will ever be made. If you are unable to purchase one, don’t worry – most equipment will be made available on Z06 standard via the Z07 performance package or the CFZ Z06 carbon fibre package.
