Convertibles are not only for summer, who said? BMW was not the only one that said so.
The latest batch of 2019 BMW Z4 spy pictures is undoubtedly the best. It was taken in northern Europe and allows us to view the roadster from close quarters. We also have the opportunity to see the Toyota Supra’s cousin in the attached photos.
The Z4 is a more powerful version, judging from the large brake calipers, large wheels and two big exhaust tips. The front bumper is noticeably larger than the prototypes, while the rear bumper appears a bit more aggressive. Although the body is not fully camouflaged yet, you can still see the sleek headlights as well as the swanky taillights that likely use OLED technology.
BMW clearly states that there will not be a full-fat M version of the new Z4, so we may be looking at an M-infused model with the M Performance branding. According to the model, it will use the same turbocharged 3.0-liter straightsix engine with 335 horsepower. Some believe there will be an optional Competition Package that increases the output by 50 horsepower, but this sounds far too good to be true.
The Toyota Supra will make its debut in production metal at the North American International Auto Show, Detroit in January 2019. However, we don’t have long to wait to see its German brother. According to reports, BMW will unveil the next-gen Z4 in a separate event this summer before taking it to Paris Motor Show in October.
Last note: Both BMW and Toyota stated that, although they will share the same platform as the Supra and Z4, the Supra and Z4 will be different sports cars.
