Opel has previewed the Adam Rocks S before a world premiere at the International Amsterdam Motorshow next Wednesday.
Opel’s Adam S was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014. Now, its more rugged brother Adam rock can receive the same S treatment. The compact crossover is described as “anything but cute” and uses the same four-cylinder, 1.4 liter ECOTEC turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 150 HP (110 kW), and 220 Nm (162 lbft) of torque.
The sprint of 0-62mph (0-100 km/h), which takes 8.5 seconds, will take it to reach 130 mph (210 km/h). The engine is sent power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox with a short ratio. This allows the Adam Rocks S go from 50 mph (80 km/h), to 75 mph (128 km/h), in 5.9 seconds.
Opel claims that its mini-crossover hot will use just 5.9 liters/100 km (39.8 US mpg or 47.8 UK mpg) and emits only 139g/km CO2. The S version is 15mm lower than the regular Adam Rocks and has an upgraded braking system, and the option to turn off ESP. It comes as standard with an electrically-operated canvas roof available in 5 hues and can be had with one of the 11 body paints available.
The Opel Adam Rocks S premieres in The Netherlands on April 17, during the International Amsterdam Motorshow.
