The same jeweler who makes the Olympic gold medals made the gold badges.
The McLaren Speedtail combines luxury and speed in one package. The automaker has a more extravagant option for buyers who want to emphasize the machine’s elegance. McLaren collaborates with Vaughtons, a Birmingham jeweler, to produce 18-carat white metal emblems with carbon fiber inset.
The 18-carat, white fold is used for the badge package. It holds two brand emblems at the front and one at back. These badges include a McLaren hallmark laser-etched and markings showing where and when the pieces were created. British automaker Thin Ply Technology used the carbon fiber inlays. Vaughtons has experience in making important items such as the Olympic gold medals or the FA Cup soccer trophy.
McLaren also has a solid platinum version if gold is not a valuable enough metal. A lacquered emblem transfer is also available if the customer wishes to lose as much weight as possible. It’s basically a decal with the name of the automaker.
McLaren will unveil the Speedtail publicly on October 26. The Speedtail is not as focused on track performance as the Senna. The McLaren F1 has three seats inside. The driver is in the middle chair. The brand’s 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 is used with electric motors to produce more than 987 horsepower (736 megawatts). This powertrain can reach speeds of at least 392 km/h (392 miles per hour).
McLaren intends to make 106 Speedtails. Each one starts at 1.75 million pounds (or $2.3 million at the current exchange rate), before adding options such as white gold badges. The brand has already reserved the entire production run so the only way to obtain a Speedtail is to spend even more on second-hand markets.
