Next-Generation BMW X6 and X6M Spied Looking Production Ready

The M Performance model is most likely the one you see, while the M full-fat version is more likely.

We’re still waiting for BMW, after a long teaser campaign. These new spy photos serve as a reminder that the X family will continue to receive updates. The third-generation X6 is out and about in what appears to be the production-ready outfit, while the M version looks to have the final body hidden underneath the camouflage.

We’ll start with the X6. However, we believe it to be a warm M performance version due to the large air intakes in the front and blue brake calipers. The M50i could be the M50i with the twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V8 motor as seen in M850i xDrive. These massive exhausts point to a performance-oriented variant of the coupe-ified SUV that was introduced about a decade ago.

Despite being dipped into camo, the X6 already looks a lot better than the current model. This is mainly due to the rear half of vehicle having been reworked. The X6 is now less bulky and the sleeker LED taillights help improve its overall appearance. It’s still a strange mashup of a coupe/an SUV so it won’t suit everyone’s tastes.

The X6 M model, which is pictured below has a more aggressive design with typical M quad exhaust tips. The 21-inch alloy wheels in black don’t conceal the upgraded brakes that have drilled and slotted disc rotors. This gives the engine more power. We expect over 600 horsepower from the Competition, which packs a powerful 617-hp punch.

We can’t look inside these prototypes’ cabins but the 2019 BMW X5 will give us a good idea of what we can expect from the X6’s interior. The SUV will have some subtle differences to the regular model to make it a little more luxurious, but nothing that is too remarkable.

BMW expects to launch the next-generation X6 in 2020MY in the United States. The X6 M is likely to follow shortly after as a 2021MY.
