Report: Lamborghini Gallardo’s successor will have a simplified lineup

Michael Lock, Lamborghini of America CEO, has revealed that the 2014 Gallardo successor to Gallardo will feature a simplified product line-up.

Michael Lock, Lamborghini of America’s Chief Operating Officer, has provided new information about the 2014 Gallardo successor.

The executive spoke with Car & Driver and stated that the model would have a simplified product line to increase profitability and reduce confusion.

Although convertibles and coupes will continue to be available, there may not be as many options as previously. Lock claims models such as the LP570-4 Spyder Performante, which is essentially a lightweight, all wheel drive roadster, might have confused customers without providing much benefit to the brand.

The magazine speculates that the all-wheel drive convertibles are going to be discontinued and that the lightweight models will only be available in coupes.

Lock did not provide details about the powertrain, but the model will only be available with a dual-clutch auto transmission.
