Fair enough, though the Aztek was still ugly, the new design made it more appealing.
The Pontiac Aztek isn’t about breaking world records at Nurburgring, or getting excellent crash safety ratings. It’s about being the most hated car of all time because of its styling. You won’t be disappointed if you do a quick Google search for “the ugliest car in the world” and the Aztek is the top-ranked result.
Automotive journalists have shared their opinions on the Aztek, making it a well-known ugly car. Karl Brauer from TotalCarScore.com stated that the Aztek had “atrocious proportions wrapped with plastic body cladding” and looked “like a station wagon stretched by a car bomb.” Edmunds.com ranked the car number one on its “100 Worst Cars of All Time”.
These were the things Marouane Bembli (also known as the Sketch Monkey) set out to redesign the Pontiac Aztek. Check out the below changes.
We think that Bembli made a mistake on this one, even though you may not agree with us. Although he might have succeeded in making Fiat Multipla a bit more attractive before this is not possible.
Fair enough, Bembli was able cure some of the main elements that made Aztek so odd-looking. Bembli was able to correct the Aztek’s peculiar headlamp design, its overdone front-cladding, misplaced character lines, and the bizarre D-pillar window panes. He made the Aztek more appealing and less offensive.
Bad design decisions are not easily forgotten. It’s still futile to try to recreate the Pontiac GTO on the Aztek’s faces. Plus, the odd proportion of the rear is an eyesore. The overall styling is not balanced by the square-shaped fenders.
While we still applaud Bembli’s efforts, the Aztek project is a failure. It is impossible to make it look great and far beyond any designer’s ability.
