Volkswagen claims that the vehicle will be the most clean in its class due to its lighter body and lower drag coefficient (0.274), making it even cleaner then the Toyota Prius. This information was provided at an advance preview of the model, which will be made public at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Officials from the company confirmed that the three-door model is being developed, but it will likely launch after the five-door model. The model will go on sale in the second half of 2012, and it will be available for production starting in November.
