Jaguar announced two new forced-induction petrol engines for its 2013 model year at the Beijing Motor Show 2012. One of these is for the new sports car.
The 3.0-liter V6 supercharged motor will be offered in two power output levels: 380HP (279kW/375bhp), with 460Nm (339lbft), and 340HP (335kW/335bhp), with 450Nm (332lbft). Specific output of the more powerful engine is 127HP per Liter, which is the highest Jaguar engine. Jaguar’s new F-Type sports car will be equipped with the 3.0-liter V6 supercharged 380 engine. The 340HP version of the engine will be available in XF, XJ and XJ models in the UK and Europe. The 380HP version has not yet been released. However, the 340HP version can go from 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds in the XF or XJ. The top speed is electronically limited to 155mph. Jaguar will offer a stop-start system.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine produces 240HP (177kW/ 237bhp), and 340Nm (251lbft). The 2.0-liter turbo engine will replace Jaguar’s 3.0-liter AJV6 engine. It offers better performance and economy. The 2.0-liter turbo engine will be available in the XF model, which is available for Europe, North America and China, as well as other select markets. The same applies to the XJ, except North America.
Both engines will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
