It will race at January’s 2020 Rolex 24.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible was already on the agenda for the big ‘Vette in Florida. But, when the all-new C8.R racing car appeared, we were completely taken by surprise. Although it was expected that this car would be available later in the year, or early next year, GM clearly had other plans.
Fair enough, we have some information about the race car, but it is still not revealed. Chevy although the automaker had all the details, it pulled the covers off its latest winged wonder. We mean that there These are we don’t have any details beyond what we can see. A massive diffuser dominates the rear, while there are plenty of aero tricks up front, especially around the wheel arches.
We also know one more thing. Corvette Racing tweeted that the new racer would make its track debut at 2020 Rolex24 in January at Daytona. We can’t wait for this car to take to the track.
The driver is likely not driving the same 6.2-liter V8 model as the one currently in production. A spy video was taken last year of a C8.R doing laps. The shriek sounds unlike any Corvette. It’s possible that there is a variant of Cadillac’s Blackwing twin turbo DOHC V8 there. We also suspect the mill could power future C8 models such as the Z06 and possibly the next-gen ZR1.
We’ll have to accept the above live image for now. To satisfy your C8 cravings, take a look at our 2020 Corvette Convertible gallery.
