Subaru Hot Hatch Rally Car Rumor Too Exaggerated?

Subie’s hot hatch would be the company’s vehicle for returning to the World Rally Championship.

This information should be taken with a grain of salt. However, there is a rumor that Subaru may have a hot hatch ( VIZIV Performance Concept, pictured above). The company is also said to be using the tiny performance model as a basis for its re-entry in the World Rally Championship. Since the 2018 season, the brand has not participated in the WRC.

According to Japanese website , the hot hatch will fit in Europe’s B Segment. This would place it in the same category as cars like the Ford Fiesta or Volkswagen Polo. According to some reports, the motivation for the launch of the performance-oriented model is to make a greater impact on the European market.

Response suggests that the hot hatch might be ready for competition in the WRC 2020 season. However, this seems unlikely. Subaru does not currently make a compact car. New vehicle development takes around four years. It doesn’t appear likely that Subie will be able to have the performance model in time unless he is keeping it secret and away from the prying eyes spy photographers.

Subaru Hot Hatch Rally Car Rumor Too Exaggerated?

To find out if there was a possibility of Subaru rallying again, we reached out to our partners at Autosport.com. David Evans, Autosport rally editor, said that Toyota boss Akio Toyoda pushes them to join the series in order to race against Toyota. Subie had not confirmed that he was planning to enter WRC.

Rumours are also circulating that Subaru is working on a mid-engined sports vehicle that would be distinct from the hot hatch. It is said to be a plug-in hybrid that features a turbocharged boxer engine as well as electric motors for the front axle. This model is not confirmed by any evidence.
