How cold can it get?

While summertime temperatures around 68°F (20°C) may sound cold to many Americans, Finns find it far too hot. The Beyond the PressYouTube channel’s creator has an extreme solution: he installed a home air conditioner in his Subaru Legacy Wagon. It’s a cold and comical cabin.

Although the air conditioner was installed by a professional, the changes to the car were minimal. Only a small roof hood is required. The generator is kept running by a generator and part of the system being held in a wooden pallet attached to the roof rack. The unit is held in place by brackets on its interior.

The cabin displays a temperature of -13 Celcius (8 F) after just a few hours. The windows also show ice formation. It is described by the host as a reverse sauna, where he becomes accustomed to the cold inside and then steps outside into the hot weather.

Although the project is a bit bizarre, it works at least at low speeds. However, it is not energy efficient.

This guy may want to shop for an older American car as a more realistic option. The air conditioning systems in Cadillacs, Lincolns and other large luxury cars of the 1970s and 80s could be used to cool the interior to below freezing temperatures. These models are not available in Finland.
