Downhill Power Wheels Race looks absolutely wild

A charity race quickly becomes a mass of mud, shattered plastic.

Even if you had a Power Wheels ride-on when you were a child, there are many options now. The Jeeps were the only option for kids, but today they can choose to ride in a Mustang or a BMW I8 or even a smaller, child-sized ATV.

We would be lying if they said we hadn’t looked at the newer models and wished for just a second that we were still small enough to drive the small, battery-powered, plastic cars.

We All Need More Power Wheels Action

Power Wheels, like all toys for kids, eventually break or outgrow their riders. We think this is a more fitting way to say goodbye than a Pixar movie that combines Cars and Toy Story.

Cookeville, Tennessee’s fine people decided to make a difference and find a new use for the discarded Power Wheels. They organised the Downhill Power Wheels Derby and raised money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The adult contestants are seen riding down a hill at least three times per side before jumping into the air and landing in a muddy pit. The video describes that nobody was hurt but that several people were taken off the track.

These tiny plastic cars weren’t designed to handle the impact of this competition on their weight, speed or impact. As a result, the finish line is littered with tires and trim pieces. It’s a fitting end to the beloved childhood toy.
