Today, a new Grand-Am racer makes its debut at Daytona International Speedway in a test-run.
Chevrolet introduced the 2012 Corvette Daytona Prototype Racer.
Today, the Corvette Daytona will make its debut at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona.
Says GM Racing director, Mark Kent:
The 2012 Corvette Daytona Prototype was created by a multi-faceted effort that included Chevrolet, Corvette Designers and Pratt & Miller. Chevrolet worked closely with chassis builders Riley and Coyote as well as Dallara. This new Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype was inspired by the IMSA GTP Corvette Prototype, which Hendrick Motorsports raced in the ’80s. The new Corvette Daytona Prototype, just like the GTP Corvettes has many styling cues taken from the Chevrolet Corvette street version.
Technical specifications were not available, but the Corvette Daytona Prototype 2012 will compete in the GRAND-AM ROAD RACE Series Rox 24, which is being held at Daytona between January 26-29 2012.
