2017 Porsche Panamera could be Cayenne Coupe’ prototype on stilts

Porsche is poised to coupe-ify Cayenne?

A tuner named Merdad created the Porsche Cayenne Coupe almost six years ago. This was the regular version of the vehicle without the rear doors. Many rumors circulated about a coupe-ified version, and it appears that Porsche has approved the model.

The spy photos attached show the 2017 Panamera standing on stilts. However, it is likely that underneath the skin is a Cayenne Coupe or whatever Porsche will name it. The rear plate indicates that the vehicle was captured while ABS tests were being performed. Although we aren’t sure, the car seems to be slightly larger and shorter than the Panamera II.

The front-left fender appears to have a cap for charging ports, which would indicate that the test mule was actually a plug in hybrid. The rear fender cap of the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Panamera versions do not have this cap, which would indicate that it is fake. We also noticed a gap between front fenders and doors, which could indicate that it’s not the real fender.

The Cayenne will compete with three premium rivals that blend SUV and coupe genes: the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, BMW X6, as well as the yet-to-be-released range Rover Sport ‘Coupe’ (name still to be determined).

It isn’t hard to find out the engine lineup since both the new Cayenne and its coupe’ counterpart will get most of it from Panamera 2017. The new Zuffenhausen sedan uses a biturbo V6 engine of 2.9-liters with 434 horsepower (324 Kilowatts) & 406 lb-ft (550 Newton-meters). Turbo specification: The Panamera, which is a prettier sedan, has a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with 542 horsepower (404 kW) & 568 lbft (770Nm), which will likely be transferred.

The regular Cayenne has been revealed in the second half 2017. This means that the less practical version with a smaller trunk, and possibly less rear headroom, will not be seen the light of day until 2018.
