The Koenigsegg jesko still produces a respectable 1,280 horsepower on regular pump gas.
The Koenigsegg Jesko is the successor to the Agera RS and makes its grand debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It has 1,600 horsepower (1.193 kilowatts). Jesko von Koenigsegg is the name of the new hypercar. He was the father of Christian von Koenigsegg who founded the automaker.
The Jesko’s revised Koenigsegg 5.0-liter twin turbo V8 produces 1,280 horsepower (955 kW) on gasoline and 1,600 horsepower on E85. At 5,100 rpm, the mill’s peak torque is 1,106 pound-feet (1.500 Newton-meters). Between 2700 and 61770 revs, there are over 738 lb/ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. The mill’s maximum speed is 8,500 rpm.
The new V8 features a revised intake and a 180-degree flat-plane crankshaft. Patent-pending air injection technology can inject 290.1 pounds per square in (20 bar) of compressed air into turbos to prevent lag and spool them quickly.
The engine is connected to the new Koenigsegg nine-speed transmission, which the company calls the Light Speed Transmission. The multi-clutch system is similar to dual-clutch systems, but it doesn’t require sequentially moving through the cogs. The firm explained the inner workings of the Koenigsegg LST. “The Koenigsegg LST allows you to shift from 7th to fourth at lightning speed, without waiting to synchronize.”
The Light Speed Transmission is operated by drivers using two-position paddle shifters. The first, shorter pull activates the gearbox as a traditional dual-clutch unit. It moves sequentially through all the gears. The vehicle is then placed into the fastest gear at that moment by a second, further notch.
The Jesko now has the Triplex damper system from Koenigsegg at both the front and back, instead of the Agera’s rear. Active adjustments ensure that the ride height is maintained during high aerodynamic loads, but they don’t compromise grip at low speeds. The new model features adaptive rear-wheel steering, which considers factors such as wheel speed, steering angle and acceleration.
The Jesko is visually similar to the Agera RS. But Koenigsegg pays close attention to the finer points. The body can produce 2,205 pounds (1,050 kilograms) of downforce at 171 mph (275 km/h) – which is a 40% increase over the Agera RRS. Active flaps are located at the front and back of the body to adjust the aerodynamics.
Koenigsegg didn’t provide any details on when Jesko deliveries will begin.
