Expect a more sophisticated look and a familiar V6 underneath.
Nissan does a great job keeping design updates and new models under wraps. We are only seeing the 2019 Maxima. As you can see, testing is well underway. This is a refresh, not a new model. Therefore the camo wrap was limited to the rear and front sections.
What is the future for Nissan’s flagship sedan, the Altima? The new front fascia will be a redesign of the Altima, which is expected to debut at the New York Auto Show later in the month. Although we have not yet seen this car, we have seen the Nissan Vmotion2.0 concept with a brighter, more defined grille and a more edgy face. Nissan claims that the concept shows design cues for its forthcoming sedans. Expect to see taller-mount driving lamps and a more defined grille on the Maxima, just like the concept.
Redesigned tail lights will continue the “edgy”, aggressive theme in the rear. They are now further forward on the quarter panels. Quad rectangular exhaust tips will replace the existing dual oval outlets. This should give the lower rear fascia a little more definition.
The current Maxima was equipped with a few more standard-issue tech features, but the new car will offer more driver assistance and safety systems with optional ProPilot. A new infotainment system, although we have heard it will be available in the interior, is not yet expected to include hybrid technology. The familiar 3.5-liter V6 that produces 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) and is connected to a new CVT which turns the front wheels, will continue to be the engine’s sole source of power.
Although we have not heard anything about when the refreshed sedan will debut, it is expected to arrive by the end this summer.
