Soon, a reveal is planned.
Christopher Weil, BMW’s design boss, stated last month that the 4 Series Gran Coupe would be available ” very soon.” We have yet to see the 4 Series Gran Coupe on the road. Perhaps we are impatient. New spy photos of the coupe-ified sedan in a snowy Sweden have captured it on a winter vacation, where it completed a final bit of cold-weather testing prior to its arrival.
Camouflage is still used to hide the car’s actual design. We don’t think the car will look too different from what BMW showed us with the prototype.
Concept i4 The i4 featured new door handles as well as the controversially large kidney grille. The i4 will be an all-electric vehicle, but it will share the same design as the 4 Series GC. Both will ride on BMW’s CLAR architecture, and both will be made on the same assembly line. These photos show the M440i trim. It has a more aggressive front bumper and unique functional fender vents. Larger breaks are also featured.
This trim will likely be powered by the 3.0-liter inline-6 engine of the brand with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. It also powers the 4 Series M440i. It produces 382 horsepower (285 Kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (599 Newton-meters). The base 4 Series GC will likely receive the same engine as the regular 4 – a turbocharged 2.0 liter producing 255 hp and 190 kW. It is possible to get a plug-in version, and a complete M4 Gran Coupe model. This would be a first.
The GC will be in line with other BMW models with a completely updated corporate interior. The minimalist interior of the Concept i4 looked very BMW-like. So the GC should not be too different. It is not known when BMW will unveil it, but we do know that it will be revealed sometime in the next year. 2020 is fast approaching.
