Audi R8 Spyder Facelift Close-up

Look at these massive exhausts.

One spider after the other! We shared spy photos with the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder facelift a few hours back, and now our spies sent us images with the Audi R8 V10 Spyder. It’s not a coincidence, considering the cars were closely related. However, both prototypes were spotted on the streets of Germany.

The Huracan was seen with its soft top in place at all times. However, the equivalent four-ring Huracan can be seen in several images with the fabric roof folded. The right-hand-drive V10 Spyder test car was partially camouflaged. It wore a brownish hat, and was wearing 20-inch shoes with Pirelli tires. The car’s rear end is what catches attention most. It has large round exhaust finishers that have been replaced with larger ones.

The vents under the R8’s rear lights have been extended to the full width of the bumper. This could indicate that the V10 engine requires more cooling. The 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated engine produces 602 horsepower and 413 poundfeet (560 Newton meters) of torque in the “Plus”, but the FSI engine can produce 630 hp (600 Nm in the Huracan Performante).

The bumper received a nip-and-tuck by Audi’s skilled surgeons. The air intakes were reshaped, and appear to have lost the two vertical flicks. The bumper’s corners now have tiny triangular vents. However, these appear to be blocked so they are decorative.

Although the R8 update won’t be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in early January, we have heard that the official announcement is coming sooner than you might believe.
