The first sighting of a mule for 2017/2018 Jeep Wrangler was made.
The prototype was captured while being tested in the southwest United States. It looks almost identical to the current model, but closer inspection shows that the prototype is several inches longer due to an extended cowl and longer front fenders. The production model will feature an extended wheelbase, which should make it more comfortable and provide additional legroom for the rear seats.
Other changes are difficult to spot, but our spy camera believes that the prototype’s rough painted job may be concealing some aluminum body panels.
Although there have been many rumors about the next Wrangler, Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO, has confirmed that a large portion of that vehicle will be made from aluminum. However it will not all be aluminum. It is expected that the Wrangler will retain its body-on frame construction and solid rear axles.
Although engine options are not confirmed, Marchionne previously suggested that a smaller displacement turbocharged motor might be possible. Although no details have been released, rumors suggest that a diesel engine could be available for the United States.
