Because privacy is now a luxury commodity.
Rolls-Royce cars are synonymous with luxury and opulence, or perhaps the extreme. What can make the Phantom even more luxurious? Starlight headliner In-house theatre system? Recliner for yourself? Privacy glass? What about all of them?
This is exactly what the one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce Phantom has, and it was delivered to its Hong Kong owner. This car is unique because of its rear-seat isolation area, or the “Privacy Suite” as it was referred to in the press release.
The long-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom comes with an electrochromatic window that divides the front and rear cabins. It basically does what it says: It turns opaque as the rear passenger desires, even though its default mode is clear.
The whole divider is equipped with state-of the-art acoustic insulation to ensure that conversations at the back are not heard by front-row occupants. The sound is absorbed by a frequency-specific material. The rear passenger can use an intercom system to talk to the chauffeur. However, the driver can also “call” the rear passengers with the latter being able to accept or reject the call. It’s pretty neat, isn’t it?
Rolls-Royce:
The rear entertainment system includes two 12-inch monitors connected together to provide extreme viewing pleasure. Privacy curtains are also available in the rear cabin, but they seem pointless as all windows are privacy glass. What other features are there? Other features include a starlight headliner and wood accents.
These are all intact so we agree with Rolls-Royce’s description of it as a “Privacy suite.”
