Toyota has released new details on their future product line-up.
The company first announced plans to launch an electric Q in December. The eQ is a 12-kWh lithium-ion battery that powers an electric motor with 64 HP (47kW) and 163Nm (120lb-ft). The model can travel 100km (62 miles) per charge and reach a top speed at 125 km/h (78mph). It can be recharged fully in three to eight hours after it is exhausted. The eQ will only be available in Japan and the USA on a “limited basis.”
Toyota also announced their intention to launch 21 new hybrids before the end 2015. Although details are scarce, some will feature a new engine that uses the 2.5-liter AR petrol. The D-4S system will be fitted to the Atkinson cycle engine, which is scheduled for launch in 2013. Toyota claims it will achieve the highest maximum thermal efficiency (38.5 percent) in the world, which means high fuel efficiency and high output.
The company will release a turbocharged 2.0 liter version of its 2.5-liter AR engine one year later.
Toyota will launch a 1.4-liter ND diesel motor in 2015 that features a new exhaust gas cleaning technique. This allows it to meet Euro 6 emission standards.
2015 will also see the introduction a fuel cell vehicle with a “power output density of 3 kW/L”, which is more than twice that of the FC stack used in the FCHV–adv fuel-cell hybrid prototype.
In 2013, the company announced that they will start testing wireless battery charging systems for electric and plug in vehicles.
The company also created a solid electrolyte batteries that have a five-fold higher output density than its current batteries.
