It’s more than a car.
While Lamborghini makes some of the most exciting road cars around, its racing division has been largely overlooked until recently. The latest track-only hypercar from the Italian automaker, the Essenza SCV12 will be available to 40 customers.
As you may guess, Essenza means essence. Lamborghini squadra Corse created this car to express the spirit and soul the company, with the purest track machine, experience, and vehicle.
The SCV12 is a completely bespoke car. You could argue that some parts, such as the airbox and rear wing, could be found in Lambo’s parts bin. But similarities do not end there.
The Italian automaker will launch the most powerful hypercar yet with a naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 830 horsepower (619kilowatts) and a six-speed sequential transmission. Thanks to the lightweight carbon fiber chassis, the engine generates 1.66 horsepower per kilogram. The vehicle is protected by a survival cell that is so strong it doesn’t require a traditional roll cage.
Emanuele Pirro is a five-time winner at the 24 hours of LeMans and Marco Mapelli, one the factory GT3 drivers for the Italian Automaker. This allows customers to get the most out of their cars. SCV12 ownership includes Pirro’s and Mapelli’s high-quality instruction. The race car and support crew can be shipped to any track around the globe.
The aero department is just as promising as the racing division at the Italian automaker. The technical package for the Italian hypercar can produce 2,756 pounds (1.200 kg) of downforce at speeds of 155 miles an hour (250 km per hour). This is thanks to years of experience in competition.
It doesn’t matter what the numbers are, it’s refreshing that Lamborghini offers a great vehicle and a wonderful way to experience it. We would love to share an espresso with Mapelli and Pirro, or even drive the car.
