Chevrolet unveils the 2011 WTCC Cruze equipped with a new 1.6 turbo

The car had to be modified for a 1.6 turbocharged engine of 310 PS (or 306 bhp/306 bhp) with 335 Nm (347 lb-ft) torque.

Chevrolet has unveiled the 2011 WTCC Chevy Cruze. It is now ready for another season, following its triumphant run last year.

Chevrolet was awarded both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ crowns at the 2010 WTCC, with the Cruze. It has now unveiled the 2011 spec version in accordance with the new FIA rules.

These new technical rules reflect today’s smaller and more efficient turbocharged powerplants. WTCC switched from naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engines to turbocharged, 1.6-liter units.

The WTCC Chevy Cruze 2011 comes with a turbocharged 1.6 turbocharged powerplant with 310 PS (228kW / 306bhp) & 335 Nm (247lb-ft). Many design modifications were required to adapt the car for the new powerplant. These included redesigns of the front suspension, brakes and aerodynamics.

The driver lineup is unchanged, however, with world champion Yvan Müller returning to his duties in the number one car and Rob Huff in number two. Huff will also write a column about the 2011 WTCC season in the British newspaper The Sun. Chevrolet will also provide a third and fourth vehicle for the season.

Next weekend, the 2011 WTCC Chevrolet Cruze makes its debut in Brazil at Curitiba.
