Abarth 595 Pista Has ‘Oversized’ Turbo For 165 HP

This new model will be an option that is a combination of the Turismo and standard 595 versions.

Abarth is releasing a special edition version its Fiat 500-based HTML595 hot-hatchback. It’s more performance-oriented. Although the price of the small car is comparable to the 595 Turismo, it has the same power output.

This means that the driver has 165 horsepower (123kilowatts) available to him. The turbocharged gasoline engine is a 1.4-liter turbocharged and comes with what Abarth calls an “oversized” Garrett turbine. It also breathes through a Record Monza exhaust system. This feature is standard on the Competizione model, but not on the 595 Turismo.

The 595 Pista isn’t any more powerful than the Turismo. However, Abarth claims that the turbocharger turbine does improve the power delivery. The car’s 170 pound-feet (230 Newton meters) of torque can now be delivered at a lower rev range of 2,250 rpm by changing the pressure inside the combustion chamber.

A Koni rear suspension setup has been added to the Pista, known as Frequency Selective Damping or FSD. This system adjusts the suspension to match the road surface and speed with the goal of increasing stability and comfort.

The Abarth braking system is another mechanical feature that grips ventilated 284mm and 240mm discs at the front and rear. An automated manual gearbox is also available, which acts as an automatic but has shift paddles that allow the driver to control sequential shifts.

The Pista’s special livery is what sets it apart. It includes matt grey paint with bright green details. All of the door mirror caps, splitter, wheel centers, and splitter are made from green, which contrasts well with the black diffuser, alloy wheels, front grille surrounds, and the black of the diffuser. To denote the car’s special edition status, the car gets Pista badges on its tailgate.

The new seats inside are a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Italian car manufacturer, and feature Abarth 70 lettering on their backrests. The seats are made from racing-style buckets and have new upholstery. This version of the Uconnect system is used across the Fiat range and comes with an HD screen and DAB radio. It also has the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connection systems.

A flat-bottomed sports steering wheels is mounted on the dashboard. The button also modifies the car’s characteristics to make it more fun. This system adjusts the peak torque output and changes the throttle response and power steering settings.
